Well, I replaced the rear shocks, but the hardest part of that was removing the inner fender. That would’ve gone much faster if it wasn’t held in with three different styles of hardware.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Thanks to the time it took to get the initial parts, waiting for a dealer to get me torque to yield bolts, having the manufacturer replace the wrong discs they sent, having the manufacturer replace the replacements because they replaced them with the same parts I had to begin with instead of the correct replacements, getting those parts too late yesterday to get started, a few bad weather days, a week on call for work, and a couple life getting in the way of working on it days the car has been out of commission for almost 3 weeks. It would’ve been 3 weeks on Saturday.

I also discovered the place that recently put on new tires butchered two lug nuts and decided to use them anyway. Those were fun to remove, but I grabbed the replacements on my way home from work today.

That's quite the ordeal! I thought when I spent 5 hours doing mine on Sunday it was taking it slow, but three weeks is a lot longer.

I’d say actual working time for brakes in shocks was around 4 hrs. Other than getting the lower shock bolt to brake loose and the parts snafus everything went pretty well.

S lotted and crossdrilled (solid?) discs  on the rear of a Volt, though

I hate how most tire shops treat torquing wheels down . Last time I was at Costco getting tires I watched as the tech used the impact to hammer on the lugs and then took the torque wrench and just checked that it was at least at torque spec. Kinda defeats the purpose of the torque wrench if you torque them to 5 00ft-lbs with your impact first....I now take only the wheels when getting new tires.

I know it’s overkill on this car.  They were a great deal that I couldn’t pass up though.

Are you missing a lug there?

I held on to a brake disk for my rear wheel and installed it after a year. Even though it had a crack in it.

Yes, the tire shop butchered one. My wife is stopping for a replacement on her way home.

That’s not bad at all! I was aided by my new favorite tool that everyone should own, the Milwaukee 2863 impact wrench. It makes light work of everything.

I mean it. I think these should be government issued.

I have a craftsman cordless impact. All I needed it for was the lower shock nut, but there was no way I would’ve gotten those off without it.
